The climax reveals a significant secret regarding Rottmayer's true identity—he is actually Mannheim, the very person Breslin's captors were trying to find, and the entire "setup" was a masterminded rescue operation.

While it features plenty of gunfights and brawls, the film leans heavily on the "procedural" aspect of prison breaks, focusing on Breslin's analytical mind and technical knowledge.

His routine is upended when he is framed and sent to "The Tomb," an ultra-secret, state-of-the-art facility built based on his own strict security protocols. Unlike his previous jobs, this incarceration is permanent and off the grid. Inside, Breslin meets Emil Rottmayer (Schwarzenegger), a mysterious and savvy inmate. To survive and break out, the two must form an unlikely alliance to outsmart the sadistic warden, Hobbes, and expose the conspiracy that landed Breslin there.
