The story follows Vera, a middle-aged sign language interpreter living a quiet life with her husband, Fatmir. Their world is upended when Fatmir dies by suicide. In the aftermath, Vera’s plans to sell their village home and retire by the sea are derailed when a group of men claim the property based on patriarchal tradition and secret dealings.
