At the Great Railway Show, Thomas meets Ashima , a beautifully painted engine from India. During the Shunting Challenge, Thomas is neck-and-neck for the lead when he notices Ashima is about to hit a derailed flatbed.

While pulling his usual local train to Vicarstown , Thomas encounters Gordon , who is boasting about his speed. However, Gordon is secretly worried that he isn't fast enough to compete against his brother, the Flying Scotsman , a legendary engine who can reach 100 mph. Preparing for the Show
