Ted was created through post-production CGI by Tippett Studio and Iloura, with MacFarlane providing both the voice and motion capture on set. During filming, a simple "stick with eyeballs" or physical stuffed bears were used as stand-ins for the actors.
The project was originally developed at 20th Century Fox, but they passed on it due to concerns over the $65 million budget for an R-rated debut. Universal Pictures ultimately greenlit the film. Ted(2012)
The story follows (Mark Wahlberg), a Boston native who, as a lonely child in 1985, made a Christmas wish for his teddy bear to come to life.
