In the final confrontation at Doc Ock’s waterfront lab, Peter reveals his identity to Otto to appeal to his humanity. Otto regains control of his mechanical arms and chooses to sacrifice himself, drowning his unstable fusion reactor in the river to save the city. Mary Jane finally learns that Peter is Spider-Man, and despite the danger, she chooses to be with him, ending the story on a bittersweet note of hope and sacrifice.
