Review of 2013 movie Snitch with action and suspense - Facebook Snitch

Snitch is a surprisingly grounded crime thriller directed by Ric Roman Waugh. Inspired by true events, the story follows John Matthews (Dwayne Johnson), a construction company owner whose son faces a mandatory 10-year prison sentence after being set up in a drug deal. To save his son, Matthews cuts a deal with a politically ambitious U.S. Attorney (Susan Sarandon) to go undercover and help the DEA take down a major drug cartel. ⚖️ The Verdict: 3.5 / 5 Stars The film serves as a surprisingly effective critique

Dwayne Johnson delivers one of his career's most vulnerable and dramatic performances. He sheds his typical invincible "action hero" persona to play a terrified, desperate father in way over his head. To save his son, Matthews cuts a deal

Some plot points require a heavy suspension of disbelief (such as a civilian owner of a trucking company so easily infiltrating a ruthless Mexican drug cartel). Additionally, Johnson's massive, powerhouse physique makes it a bit hard to believe he could be easily intimidated or beaten by local street punks.

Jon Bernthal steals several scenes as an ex-con reluctantly pulled back into the criminal world. Susan Sarandon and Barry Pepper bring incredible gravity and grit to their roles as federal authorities.
