"Joey, you finally found a woman who can keep up with you and your first instinct is to run?" Rachel asked, exasperated. "Exactly! If she’s like me, she’s dangerous!" The student blinked
"Excuse me!" Ross hissed, his voice cracking in that specific way it did when his indignation peaked. "This is a place of study! And specifically, a place of my study!" "Exactly
He pulled the book from the shelf, tracing the gold-embossed letters of his own name. It was a physical manifestation of his life’s work, and he expected the surrounding air to hum with intellectual reverence. Instead, he heard a rhythmic thump-thump-thump coming from the next aisle over.
Ross sighed, took his book, and checked it out himself. As he walked out, he realized that while the world might not be ready to worship at the altar of his dissertation, at least he knew exactly where it was: safely tucked under his arm, away from the wandering hands of NYU's amorous undergraduates.
