The story begins when Riley and Maya enter Lucas into a bull-riding competition in his hometown of Austin, Texas. Lucas's "Pappy Joe" arrives in New York to take Lucas and Zay back for the event, and Riley, Maya, and Farkle decide to join them as a "cheer squad".
