The giant sat down in the dirt. "My father left when the sky turned red. I spent ten years hunting the man who killed my mother. I found him. He was a cobbler. I realized then: the wasteland isn't out there. It’s the silence after the screaming stops."
"We’re just visiting," Morty chirped nervously. "It’s like... a theme park for trauma." Rick_e_morty_s03e02
"Rick, I—I don’t think Summer is okay," Morty stammered, watching his sister execute a perfect suplex on a man wearing a skull for a codpiece. "She’s been 'Wasteland Queen' for three hours and she hasn't mentioned the divorce once. It’s like she’s... actually happy here?" The giant sat down in the dirt
Rick handed Morty a jagged piece of scrap metal. "Now, hold this. We’re going to build a localized time-dilator so we can spend six months here in the next twenty minutes. I need a vacation from your mother’s 'healing' wine nights." I found him
But Summer walked up then, her face smeared with engine grease and blood. She looked at the portal, then at the desolate horizon. "I'm not going back, Rick. Here, if I’m angry, I can just throw a spear at someone. At home, I have to 'use my words' while Mom cries into a glass of Chardonnay. I like the spears better."
Rick paused his soldering. "Deep. Real deep, Bucket-Head. Morty, don't listen to him. He’s just a background NPC with a tragic backstory meant to provide atmosphere."
As the portal closed, Rick looked back at Hemorrhage. "By the way, the cobbler didn't kill your mom. It was a giant space-squid. I was there. It was hilarious."
