It wasn't a computer-generated sound. It was raw, weeping, and impossibly real. As she played, the room around Elias seemed to dim. The blue light of his monitor began to pulse in time with the rhythm. He realized with a jolt that the girl on the screen was reacting to him—when he leaned closer, her tempo quickened; when he held his breath, the notes became delicate whispers.
