Warriors of Rock was the final Guitar Hero title developed by Neversoft before the series went on a five-year hiatus. While it didn't reach the sales heights of Guitar Hero III , it is remembered fondly by the hardcore community for its uncompromising difficulty and its dedication to the heavy metal aesthetic that defined the genre’s golden age.

Each character possesses a unique "Warrior Power" that alters gameplay mechanics. For example, some powers increase the multiplier cap to x6, while others instantly refill the Star Power meter. Once a character earns enough stars, they transform into a "Warrior" form, doubling the strength of their power.
