(2022), known in English as Northern Skies Over Empty Space , is a Mexican drama directed by Alejandra Márquez Abella that deconstructs the traditional "Northern Western" and the myths of Mexican masculinity .

The film is inspired by the true story of , a 77-year-old rancher who, in 2010, died defending his property from a criminal cartel. However, instead of a standard action-hero biopic, Abella delivers a "deep piece" that uses this event to examine a crumbling patriarchy.
