: To expose Hunter, C.J. decides to frame himself for the murder of a prostitute. He and his colleague Corey Finley (Joel David Moore) meticulously document the "fake" evidence C.J. buys to implicate himself, filming their actions as an "insurance policy" to prove his innocence later.

: C.J.'s girlfriend and Hunter's assistant, Ella Crystal (Amber Tamblyn), discovers Hunter’s tampering in a separate case, leading to his arrest and C.J.'s release. However, Ella soon discovers a darker truth: C.J. actually did murder the woman to prevent her from exposing a fake documentary he had previously made. His entire plan was a double-blind to eliminate a blackmailer while framing Hunter for "faking" evidence for a crime C.J. actually committed.
