Born on April 5, 1909, in Derbent, Zeynalli showed early musical promise. He moved to Baku to pursue formal education, studying at the Baku Music College from 1923 to 1926. He later graduated from the in 1931, where he was mentored by the legendary Uzeyir Hajibeyov , the father of professional Azerbaijani music.
