In November 1348, fifteen-year-old Amicia de Rune lives a quiet life as a French noble in Aquitaine. Her world shatters when the Inquisition raids her family estate to find her five-year-old brother, Hugo. Hugo has been ill since birth with a mysterious blood disease called the Macula. As Hugo’s condition worsens, he discovers he has a psychic connection to the rats. He eventually learns to command them, turning the plague against the Inquisition soldiers who hunt them. In a final confrontation at the Cathedral, Amicia and Hugo face Vitalis, who has injected himself with Hugo's tainted blood to gain similar powers. The siblings defeat Vitalis, and the rat plague begins to recede from the region. Despite their victory, the world remains scarred, and the Macula still rests within Hugo, leading directly into the events of the sequel. Key Game Details
